Abstract

“Provisions” is a short stop motion film that follows K, a young Trinidadian-American woman who lives on her own. As K prepares provision soup, she calls her grandmother for advice on how to make the traditional Trinidadian dish. K and her grandmother’s conversation evolves into a conversation about community and how it feels to be a child of the diaspora. This film draws upon the animate possibility of stop motion to articulate the liveliness of culture and memory.
