Abstract

Georgia Dirt is a linked short story collection exploring queer identity in the rural South. Set in the small town of Sloane, Georgia Dirt follows a farmer, a football star, a church secretary, a returning town pariah, and a long-haul trucker. These characters see a place that claims loudly that it doesn’t want them to exist—and work to figure out a way to stay.
