Abstract

This article focuses on the EmPOWER Research team's lack of a research dissemination strategy and its significance to their marginalized community of young Black gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men in Atlanta, Georgia. Due to historical mistreatment of this community by the health sciences, the research team has a responsibility to involve them in every aspect of the research process to rebuild trust. The team proposes a multi-faceted approach to disseminate their findings effectively, including weekly social media campaigns, monthly meetings with the EmPOWER Youth Advisory Board, and quarterly newsletters to keep community partners informed and engaged. By implementing this dissemination strategy, the team aims to increase engagement and trust within their community, as well as promote necessary changes and adaptations to improve health access and quality for young, Black gay/bisexual men who have sex with men.
