Abstract
This recital explores the genre of the violin sonata as a mode of expression, with a focus on the formal, harmonic, and technical components of the performed works. The program includes works in the standard violin repertoire written by four composers: Violin Sonata No. 8 in G Major, op. 30, No. 3 by Ludwig van Beethoven; Violin Sonata No. 2 in A Minor, BWV 1003: II. Fuga by Johann Sebastian Bach; Sonata for Solo Violin in G Major, op. 27, No. 5 by Eugène Ysaÿe; and Sonata in A Major for Violin and Piano by César Franck.
