Abstract

This photo-essay delineates the process of using a multi-media format including oral history, portraiture, and written testimony to explore the representation of women’s experiences living with personal trauma. The photo-essay is formatted in the style of a photo-book and includes photographs and texts followed by a personal narrative regarding the experience and thought process involved in creating this work. Additionally, the final segment of the photo-essay is a literature review completed during the early stages of research for the thesis.
