Abstract

The Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance (CHAMPS) Network was designed to address gaps in cause of death data by establishing a network of sites globally to understand and track causes of under-five mortality using verbal autopsies and minimally invasive tissue sampling. A partnership mapping and analysis project was proposed to better understand the potential for collaboration and impact to solve issues in child health that will be identified by CHAMPS’ research. The purpose of this thesis is to describe the engagement of potential partner organizations by CHAMPS in Kisumu, Kenya. In depth interviews were held with 16 current or potential partner organizations from June to July 2019. Findings suggest that partners have valuable feedback on the implications of CHAMPS’ methodologies and that these organizations have the potential to assist CHAMPS in addressing child mortality in Kisumu. Stakeholder engagement is vital to the success of CHAMPS and should be expanded moving forward.
